Length: 5 miles round trip
Elevation Gain: 2,200 feet
Dog Friendly: No
Trailhead coordinates (copy + paste): 40.6331, -111.7230
Directions: Follow the coordinates to the parking lot, which is attached to the S-turn on Big Cottonwood Canyon Road. The lot is small, so you may need to park along the road. The trail starts from the opposite end of the parking lot from the bathrooms, heading West. Do not follow the trail behind the bathrooms, unless you want to hike to Lake Blanche.
Unlike many trails in the area, this one doesn't lead to a lake or up a peak. The Broads Fork Basin leads exactly where you think it might—to a basin. Though fairly short and not technical, this trail is steep, especially towards to end, and is ideal for fall or a cooler summer day. Quieter than many of its neighboring trails, Broads Fork is nicely shaded for the majority of the way and passes by a waterfall. Your efforts will be rewarded when you step up into an expansive basin with beautiful views and plenty of room to explore. Keep in mind that your best friend will need to sit this one out. Dogs are not allowed in Big Cottonwood Canyon.
