Directions: Although this trail has many access points, the one with the most parking is the Rail Trail parking lot in Prospector. Walk West on the Rail Trail for 0.2 miles, then follow the sign up for Freemason, which you will follow East around the hill. Once you hit Aerie Drive, walk up it for about 300 feet, where the trail continues on the other side. The second road you will meet is Mellow Mountain Road. When you hit the road, walk down it for about 700 feet, where you will find that the trail continues on the other side. From here you can follow the loop around to Solamere, over Prospector, and then back down to the parking area.

Gambel Oak is a short and sweet loop trail with views over Main Street, Deer Valley, and Prospector. This trail is mostly flat as it wraps around Masonic Hill and April Mountain, and the landscape changes quickly between shaded aspen-covered groves to exposed oak-lined hillsides. With plenty of viewpoints as well as more some serene, tree-shrouded sections, this trail has a little bit of everything, and conveniently starts right in the center of town.
