Trailhead coordinates (copy + paste): 40.5982, -111.5840
Directions: Park at the Brighton Resort base area and walk up the service road for about 250 feet before turning right past the patch of trees and onto the trail. There are many roads and trails on the bottom section, so don't worry too much about your exact location. As you make your way up the ski run, the trail will become more clear. Once you reach the dam, you have made it to Mary.
Overrun with wildflowers, this trail takes you through Brighton Resort to sister lakes Mary, Martha and Catherine (in order of appearance). Mary is the largest and most popular of the three. Walk to the far edge, where the trail continues up to Martha, switches back once, and then goes on to Catherine. This hike ascends at a mild incline and is doable for the whole family, and gets less populated the further up you go. If you have time, keep heading up past Catherine to summit Sunset Peak, which has a clear view from above of all three sisters. The lakes are a great place for hammocking but not for swimming or dogs— Big Cottonwood Canyon is part of the Salt Lake watershed.
