Beginning in the heart of Old Town and commencing at the top of Payday, the hike to Treasure Hill is a great way to explore the resort during the summer months while taking in a variety of views. There are many possible routes to the top. For the best experience, take a right when the trail hits the ski run, passing the sign for Town Lift. After a few hundred feet, turn left into the trees on the Treasure Hill trail. At the next sign, turn onto Sweeney's (not South Sweeney's), and follow it to the top of the ski run, where you will see a sign for John's Trail. John's is a series of tight switchbacks weaving through a dense aspen forest that leads to the top of Treasure Hill, home to Payday chairlift. Skip John's on the return trip by walking down the ski run on the right side of Payday, which has wide open views over the PCMR base, Park Meadows, and Quarry Mountain. Connect back with Sweeney's at the sign for the Creole ski run.
